Discover Worthington
A suburb of Columbus, Worthington offers all of the attractions and amenities of a big city combined with the allure of small town living. One of the Midwest’s first planning communities, Worthington blends commerce, residential life, education, and faith. It reflects its dignified New England heritage with genuine brick sidewalks leading to the central Village Green, where many of the city’s original commercial buildings and churches still reside.
The city was founded in 1803 by the Scioto Company led by James Kilbourne, who was later elected to the United States House of Representatives. They city was named in honor of Thomas Worthington, who would later become governor of Ohio.
